Keighley Residents To Get 'Insiders Guide' To Their Police StationThursday July 29, 2010 Keighley residents are to get an inside guide to life in their local nick this week through a major Police open day. Airedale House Police Station in Keighley is to throw open its doors to the community for attractions and tours by officers who can tell them about what life is like on the sharp end of combating crime. Attractions including displays by the Operations Support Unit and traffic cars, go karts and remote controlled cars and more will all be present at the event which starts from 11am on Saturday July 31. Other highlights will include face painting, crime prevention advice, displays from traffic cars and the chance to tour areas of the station with the officers who work in it. Those who pop along will be able to speak to Police about issues in their communities and also have their questions answered about how the Force works and what life is like as a police officer. Inspector Wayne Horner of the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This open day is a major event for us in Keighley and a great opportunity for residents to come in, get a feel for what we do and get an inside perspective to the work we do with them. Chief Inspector Steve Thomas of Airedale and North Bradford Police, said: "These open days are the largest events of their kind yet staged in Bradford and are intended to give residents a real 'insiders' perspective on all aspects of Policing and other emergency services work in our communities.
